As a programmer with an intermediate level of experience and knowledge I find this book contains quite a bit of useful information. I enjoyed the example code you can download at the website. The book contains chapters on some subjects I deal with troelxen a day to day basis but even then, I can find tips, ways to andrw my code or information which I previously unaware of. The Amazon Kindle books seem to have a shortcoming.
This applies to all Amazon books as far as I can tell It’s that the Index does not list the pages or location of the indexed item. If I I looked into the index for “Delegates” I can only see that it was indexed by the author. There is troelssen way to navigate to a particular place in the book where “Delegates” exists or to even find out what chapters it may be inside of.
Pro C# 2010 and the .NET 4 Platform
The entire Index seems to be troesen useless to me. There are plenty of good reviews for this book so I will just try to supplement the key aspects not already addressed by others. First and foremost — the code examples in this book have a very high level of accuracy. Unlike so many other technical books, someone actually reviewed the code and validated it before publication.
Perhaps this is due to the book being a follow-on edition. Secondly — I found this book had just the right balance of concept and application. The author writes clearly and has a great instinct for when to go deep and when to gloss over a topic my pov anyway.
He gives you some history, the concepts, and then typically gives you a very practical hands-on example to try out.
Now, I’ll grant you that many of the examples are simple console programs but that’s the point; you get to see anderw a particular concept works ansrew a basic example. Pto the concept and hands-on experience to the real world in a Windows, WPF or web-based application is rather easy once you have the building blocks to work from and this book’s examples give you just that. These two books will complement each other well as you step into the OOP world.
Zndrew Edition Verified Purchase. I haven’t read but about 6 percent of the book but the comment that source code can be hard to read is true although I didn’t pay that much attention to it because you can download it from the website.
However, very often the resolution on illustrations truly sucks in the Kindle format and the notion that a picture is worth a words is under greatly under duress in the Kindle format. I suspect it might be worth more like a thousand questions. I think if you get anything from illustrations you might prefer the hard copy.

I prefer having a book like this around rather than relying on a Google search to get started in some technology because I always can refer to some chapter to get started and to get an understanding of something.
Then ttoelsen I’ll supplement what I’ve learned with a Google search for more in-depth examples. This book will serve great for anyone who is already an experienced programmer but needs to know about. NET concepts and how things are done in. I had a friend purchase this book an assembler and VB6 programmer to get started in.
NET and he cannot live without this book as well as a point of reference. Would highly recommended to anyone as a starter into. NET who you don’t need to explain what a ‘for’ loop is. Andrew Troelson is a great and knowledgeable writer, and when learning c 2. For better or worse, C 4.
Personally, I prefer a more hands on approach to learning a language, with interesting and useful examples Remember Coriolis Books? Most of the ideas troesen are conveyed using console apps, which eventually bore you during a page reading. His depth insights into the workings of C are definitely better than most authors, and as a reference book it’s excellent. If you want to learn C 4. I originally gave this book only 4 stars, due to the lack of good “hands on” examples.
I am rereading the book prk Yes it is that good. His explanations are excellent, even quotable. I recommend buying a companion book that concentrates andrsw practical solutions. I was fairly new to. When I tried reading this book, it create a whole andew load of MORE questions while reading than any answers.
